Four Winter Cocktails To Enjoy This Season
With the winter season in full swing, we turned to our mixologist and head of innovation to write up some his favourite gin-based winter cocktails.
Hot winter brews, cold spicy warmers.
We're talking: 1) Gin Grind, a twist on an Irish coffee. 2) Gin Flip, a coupette filled with chocolatey goodness. 3) Hot Spiced Gin Punch, smelling as good as it tastes 4) Bee Sting, a cheeky spring day cocktail with bite.
Winter gives us the perfect opportunity to host friends and family whilst having a cosy night in. Fill your home with the delicious scent of our hot spiced gin punch, satisfy your sweet tooth with a gin flip, or blow away the January blues with our gin grind.

Think Irish coffee with a twist - gin, ginger, coffee, whipped cream. The perfect cocktail to wrap your hands around.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Nicholson London Dry Gin
- 15ml ginger syrup
- 150ml freshly brewed (hot) filter coffee
- 25ml heavy whipping cream
- Nutmeg
Method:
- Add the first 3 ingredients to a heat-resistant glass with a handle and stir gently.
- Layer the cream over the back of a bar spoon so that it sits on top of the liquid below.
- Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
Chocolatey goodness in a coupette. A Nicholson fan favourite.
Ingredients:
- 35ml Nicholson London Dry Gin
- 35ml crème de cacao (white)
- 10ml sugar syrup
- 1 egg yolk
- 20ml double cream
- 2 dashes chocolate bitters
- Nutmeg
Method:
- Shake all ingredients hard over ice and double strain into a Coupette.
- Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
A true winter warmer, our hot spiced gin punch smells as wonderful as it tastes. Serves 4.
Ingredients:
- 200ml Nicholson Blood Orange Gin
- 600ml apple juice (or medium dry cider)
- 75ml ginger syrup (to taste)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5 cloves pierced into the skin of a lemon slice x 4
- 2 star anise
Method:
- Add all ingredients to a saucepan and simmer over a medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Serve in a heat-resistant glass with a handle.
A variation of the famous Prohibition cocktail, the Bees Knees - a warm weather take on a gin hot toddy. Saved for a spring day.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Nicholson Blood Orange Gin
- 20ml fresh lemon juice
- 10ml runny honey
- 1 pinch cayenne (or chili) powder
Method:
- Shake all ingredients over ice and double strain into a Nic and Nora glass.
- Garnish with a lemon zest.
